Summary:
U.S.S. Hood was originally commissioned in 2246, and served honorably for two decades before sustaining serious damage during the M-5 Incident. As she was already scheduled for refit in 2270, the decision was made to accelerate her maintenance schedule and combine battle repairs with the refit.
Re-launched in May 2269 following two years of development and refit at Tycho Yards, the Hood class entered the fleet as the first battlecruiser design in the history of Starfleet.
Measuring 974 feet in length, the Hood class is powered by twin PB-62 Mod 2 drives capable of propelling the 179,000 metric ton starship at a top cruising speed of Warp 6.5 and can maintain warp speeds as high as 9.2 for limited durations. The ship is armed with nine banks of twin MK VII-B phaser emitters, four photon torpedo launchers (2 forward, 2 aft), and equipped with CRM-114-C discriminators and the Aries X-1BC navigational deflector system. An LAU-262 rotary launcher bearing 36 multi-mission drones provides flexibility in intel-gathering and other purposes. For small craft operations, Hood is equipped with an expansive hangar deck and extensive service craft maintenance facilities, as well as external airlocks for universal docking.
This high-quality packet consists of five external views plus internal cross-sections and details on eleven 11"x17" sheets.
