Summary:
The MK-VIII-A Shiva class starship is a second-generation Class I destroyer. It is a fast, maneuverable, long-endurance starship intended to escort larger vessels in a fleet, convoy, or battle group.
Because these ships are so integral to Starfleet operations, they are often called “support vessels” - but make no mistake, this ship is powerful and capable enough to operate on its own in almost any situation. With advanced subspace comms, next-generation navigational deflectors and sensor suites, precision weapons and state-of-the-art engineering systems, the Shiva class destroyer can lead an exploratory mission or combat strike or protect the fleet against hostile forces.
740 feet in length, the Shiva class masses about 97,000 metric tons. She is a formidable weapons platform, packing 14 RIN-15 independent twin mounted phaser turrets and 4 MK-22 photon torpedo launchers. Whether for exploration or combat, the Shiva class destroyer stands ready to answer the call.
