Summary:
THE MK-II-B ZERO-G INSPECTION POD ("TRAVEL POD") WAS ORIGINALLY DESIGNED AS A SMALL TRANSPORT AND UTILITY VEHICLE. UTILIZING VARIOUS INTERIOR PACKAGES, THIS SMALL CRAFT HAS SERVED STARFLEET FOR YEARS IN NUMEROUS ROLES. WITH ITS LARGE FRONT PORT, IT IS NOW PRIMARILY USED AS AN ENGINEER'S INSPECTION CRAFT. A MINIATURIZED GRAV-PLATE PROVIDES ONE-G COMFORT FOR PERSONNEL.
TRAVEL PODS FEATURE A HATCH AT THE REAR OF THE VESSEL. THIS HATCH USES A STANDARD DOCKING RING THAT ALLOWS THE POD TO DOCK WITH A FACILITY OR VESSEL WITHOUT THE NECESSITY OF ENTERING THE SHUTTLE BAY; ALL STARFLEET FACILITIES AND VESSELS ARE EOUIPPED WITH PORTS CAPABLE OF DOCKING THESE PODS AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT POINTS ON THE SHIP.
FEDERATION STARSHIPS TYPICALLY CARRY TWO TRAVEL PODS WHILE ON PATROL.
ABOUT THESE SCHEMATICS: This high-quality, full-color packet consists of four 11"x17" fold-out sheets which show internal and external views of the Pod.
