Back in June of 2017, Lightwave 3d Modeller & Artist and blogger Gerard Duffy (aka gmd3d) began to reimagine the infamous Constitution Class Starship from the Original Series. His reimagination did not change the design of the ship, rather it changed the
size of the ship. Based on exhaustive research from books, blueprints, and of course screen time, Gerard has suggested that the somewhat canonical size of the Constitution Class should be increased from the accepted ~950ft in length to over 1,300ft in length.
The renders below show the changes to the ship, based on the new size suggestion. Gerard also details his approach extensively on his
