About this machine:

This is the only model of the OASYS Pocket series that comes with DOS. Like all Japanese machines this one also has rather nice specs (80286), but not really IBM PC compatible. The keyboard is Japanese NICOLA style, so not even ctrl, alt, del is possible. The only good news is that you can edit the autoexec.bat and have it boot directly to DOS instead of the Japanese menu. I really tried hard, but besides some text-mode appz and appz that were written especially for the Oasys Pocket 3 i was not able to run any appz on it - so it isn't really useful for us western users. This could have been a pretty nice machine, but as it is you can't do much with it besides writing a novel in Japanese.

Pros:
- Really nice Keyboard (If you don't mind it lacking Standard keys)

Cons:
- Pretty incompatible graphics mode
- Power management is rather bad.
- Only PCMCIA 1.0, so besides SRAM cards barely anything you can use it for.

Verdict:
Cool specs, but since it isn't really IBM PC compatible you won't be able to run much more than some text mode appz on it.
