Better Basic for the Apple
Better Basic for the Apple by Hume and Holt is a good choice as an introduction to programming in Applesoft Basic. This book will teach you almost all you need to know to write, edit, and run programs on the Apple. There are numerous programming examples, as well as one of the most readable explanations of Apple graphics I have seen. One confusing area in Applesoft programming is the use of data files. Hume and Holt try not to confuse the reader with complicated descriptions of random access and sequential files. The pros and cons of each file type are presented, and it is up to the reader to decide which best fits his needs. $14.95 from Reston Publishing.
