Alarm System

The base is the main control center for the alarm system.  It includes all
the control buttons, the status and zone indicators, the main alarm siren,
and dry-contact terminals for connecting an optional security device.

Choose a convenient location for the base that meets the following
guidelines:

*  Near a standard AC outlet.

*  Cannot be seen from any entrance.

*  Central to doors, windows, and rooms you plan to protect.

*  Away from metal ductwork or other large metal objects.

INSTALLING THE BASE'S BATTERIES

Follow these steps to install batteries in the base before you use the
system for the first time.

1.  Unplug the base if it is plugged in.

2.  Turn over the base.  Remove the screw from the battery compartment
    cover and lift off the cover.

3.  Install eight alkaline C batteries (Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-551) as
    indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked in the compartment.

4.  Replace the compartment cover and screw.
