Model 96 (160-0534) Playing a Pre-Recorded Tape Faxback Doc. # 7857 1. Turn on the TV. 2. Set the TV tuner to the same channel as the VCR's CH.3/4 switch (3 or 4). If you TV has A/V input jacks, set it to the video mode. 3. Hold the cassette with the main label facing up and the spine label facing out from the VCR. Then insert the casette into the cassette compartment by gently pushing on the center of the cassette's spine until the VCR completely draws it in. The VCR automatically turns on and the tape indicator lights. If the erase-protection tabs has been removed from the cassette, playback automatically begins. CAUTION: Never insert anything except a VHS video cassette into the cassette compartment. You might damage the VCR's internal mechanisms. 4. If playback does not automatically begin, press PLAY. 5. Press STOP to stop playback before the end of the tape. Then press STOP/EJECT on the VCR to eject the cassette. If the tape reaches the end before you press STOP, the VCR automatically stops and completely rewinds the tape. If the erase-protection tab has been removed, the VCR then ejects the cassette and turns off. NOTE: You can press STOP/EJECT to eject a cassette when the VCR is off. The VCR's power temporarily turns on to eject the cassette. Storing Your Video Cassettes Unless you are making an automatic timer recording, eject and store the cassette before you turn off the VCR. This helps protect your cassette and the VCR's internal mechanisms from dust. Place your video cassettes in their protective boxes and store them in a cool, dry, dust-free area. Store the cassettes on end, not on their sides. This prevents improper setting of the cassette's spools. NOTE: Tape can become wound too tightly around the cassette's spools after numerous playings. This can cause the cassette to improperly load and automatically eject when you insert it. On most cassettes there is a brake-release plunger on the bottom center of the cassette. Use the tip of a pen or pencil to press the plunger. This loosens the tape. (ALL-11/09/94)
