DMP 206 (260-2906) Control Panel Faxback Doc. # 5864 You can control many of the printer functions directly from the DMP 206's control panel, which consists of two keypad controls and two LED indicators. NOTE: When you turn off the printer, any function setting information stored in the buffer is lost. KEYPAD CONTROLS: ON/OFF LINE- The printer goes off line when a paper out error occurs. To continue printing when this happens, press ON/OFF LINE. The printer goes on line and prints one more line. Then it stops and goes off line again. If the printer buffer contains no data when you attempt to print one more line, the printer stays on line until you input one line of data to the printer. To select the 1" skip mode, press ON/OFF LINE while turning on the printer (See "Setting the 1" Skip.") LF/FF- Press LF/FF while the printer is off line to advance the paper one line. Press and hold LF/FF to do a form feed. To select the font download mode, press ON/OFF LINE and LF/FF while turning on the printer. (See "Enabling the Font Download.") LQ/Draft/SSD/HSLQ- To change the print mode, press LF/FF while the printer is on line. See "Selecting the Print Mode." INDICATORS: The following chart shows what the indicators on the printer's front panel mean. PRINT MODE RESOLUTION LQ Higher resolution than Draft (Letter Quality) and SSD but slower Draft Lower resolution but faster than the LQ mode SSD Same resolution as the Draft (Super Speed Draft) mode but the print is compressed; it is faster than LQ and Draft HSLQ Same resolution but faster (High Speed Letter Quality) than the LQ mode When you turn on the printer, it is automatically set to the LQ mode. Follow these steps to change the print mode. 1) Press ON/OFF LINE so the ON/OFF LINE indicator lights. 2) Repeatedly press LF/FF until the ON/OFF LINE indicator shows the desired setting. MODE ON/OFF LINE INDICATOR LQ Blinks Once Draft Blinks Twice SSD Blinks Three Times HSLQ Blinks Four Times *NOTES: -LQ (LETTER QUALITY)-This print mode prints bidirectionally. -SSD (SUPER SPEED DRAFT)-This print mode is primarily for normal character printing. If you send graphic information or characters with special attributes (superscript/subscript, for example) in the SSD mode, the print result might not be the same as it would be in Draft or LQ mode. Also, if you try to print graphics intermixed with text while in the SSD mode, some of the text might print over some of the graphics. -HSLQ (HIGH SPEED LETTER QUALITY)-This is the same resolution as the LQ mode but the print speed is faster than normal LQ.
