4833 LX/T (250-5145) Options Faxback Doc. # 1049 This section describes how to open the computer and install hardware options. Generally you will: * Read the appropriate instructions in this section and in the documentation provided with the option(s). * Remove the computer cover, and install the option(s). * Replace the computer cover. * Run the configuration utility to complete the installation of drives, memory, or video expansion adapters. You will need a #2 Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the computer cover and install or remove expansion adapters. If you choose not to install a hardware option yourself, your computer dealer will arrange to have the installation done for you. Opening the Computer: 1. Before you open the computer, be sure that it is located in a safe working area, its power is off, and the keylock is unlocked. Unplug the computer, and disconnect any cables you have attached. 2. Grasp the front bezel under the top edge, and pull forward as shown. CAUTION: Static electricity can damage electronic components in a computer. Before opening the computer; discharge any accumulated static electricity from your body by touching a grounded metal object. 3. Remove the six cover-mounting screws from the computer cover. 4. Open the computer by using the handle to pull the cover up and away from the chassis. Closing the Computer: 1. Place the cover over the top of the computer, aligning the two pegs near the back of the cover with the two holes on the top of the computer as shown. 2. Slide the cover down and back, press inward on the sides of the cover. The metal cover guides should latch onto the lip of the chassis, while the cover should remain outside the chassis. CAUTION: Loose cables and cable connectors can cause physical damage to your main logic board components or cables. When you close the computer, be sure all connections are secure. Also be sure that cables and connectors for optional devices do not cause mechanical interference. 3. Replace the six cover-mounting screws. 4. Align the metal pins on the front bezel with the holes on the front of the computer. Push the pins into the holes to secure the bezel. 5. Reconnect the power cord and all cables.
